I am truly passionate about my teaching. Although I am an U.S.P.T.A Certified tennis Instructor with all the credentials and reviews. I can just say...I care. My lessons are 75 minutes rather than the standard 60 and will go over if necessary. Results are what is important....and I do not stare at my watch. I love to see the smiles on my students faces as they both improve and have fun doing it.

Michael has been an amazing instructor and has helped me take my tennis to the next level and beyond. He has helped refine my strokes and develop an actual swing. He is a different tennis coach then any I’ve seen. Michael also turns old tennis sayings on their head. If you’ve ever heard the saying to swing “low to high” Michael can help you fix your tennis and break the old habits.

The first tennis lesson was so incredibly helpful! He takes time to focus on each skill and gives great analogies to help you visualize. He will work with you until it’s right- even in 100° heat! Even sent follow up notes on form etc. Could not recommend him enough!

I found Michael and hired him based on all his great reviews After meeting him, then watching him interact and teach both my 5 and 7 year old and 7 I was impressed. I had seen one review that looked very bizarre and chose to discount it. I’m very Glad I did. This instructor shows so much passion and it clear how much he t truly cares about helping his students.

This was my first lesson with Michael. My 16 yr old son was with me too. My son is a beginner player with no formal instruction. In one lesson he had my son hitting a very nice forehand, improvement in his backhand and started learning to serve. My son now knows the mechanics and proper form for him to practice on his own until his next lesson. I have been playing tennis for 30 years and never learned and effective top spin backhand. He watched me hit my backhand, made some mechanical changes in my swing, and now I can hit a top spin backhand with some consistency. I highly recommend him because he knows what he is talking about. He is full of energy and is invested in wanting to see you improve.

Mike Harley was a teammate of mine at the University of Illinois in 1992. We had about 14 teammates and Mike won the challenge match tournament. Mike was a heady, tough minded player with a consistent base. Mike was a supreme competitor for our Fighting Illini squad, he hated to lose. He has been in the battle and truly grew as an athlete and teammate. Subsequently, Mike has learned from some of the top teachers in America. I can attest for his expert power, his technical knowledge, and his off the charts intensity. Mike is devoted to his students and is extremely driven to be the best he can be! His passion is rare and this attitude motivates me inside. Mike is consistently striving to improve himself. Any tennis player would be fortunate to have him as a coach! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are $60 dollars for 75 minutes rather than the standard 60 minutes. I have helped those students who need help at times financially.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to take some time getting to know the client and what it is they are trying to accomplish. I then allow the student to just relax and play as themselves. Next, I begin to identify their strengths and any potential weaknesses. From there, we begin to build on the strengths while trying to eliminate any weaknesses.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
United States Professional Teaching Association U.S.P.T.A Certified. Learned first from Gloria Connors, trained later as a junior at Nick Bollettieris Academy (Now IMG) which produced nearly 20 number 1 ranked players in the world. Coached by and influenced in college: Craig Tiley (CEO Tennis Australia and Tournament Director of the Australian Open) at the Division 1 national champion winning program: University of Illinois -- highest winning percentage of all time... all Division 1 sports, and the longest collegiate winning streak in D1 tennis history under Tiley.
