FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For the most part, since I primarily teach full-time my rate is standard and I really can't stray from that. However, I can work with you in terms of a payment plan and in some RARE cases where I have done an initial consultation and REALLY feel strongly about working with a specific student, if price is a factor we can discuss other arrangements. However, any changes in pricing is on a case by case basic and is ultimately my decision.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to assess the student immediately to see where they are at. Talk about their goals and truly find the BEST style, approach, and overall techniques I will use in ensuring their success. The key thing is working at a pace that is comfortable for all and is set by the student. So, being an effective teacher means being able to adapt constantly your style (if and when needed) but still be able to accomplish proficiency and confidence. I believe the foundation of teaching voice or acting is being able to have trust and creating a safe place where the student knows mistakes can and will happen and no judgment or anything negative will come from that. As a matter of fact, mistakes (and I wouldn't even call them that) are encouraged as that means you are TRYING and taking risks, which will always lead to success!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Working as a professional in the performing arts industry for over 30 years now and still doing it. Proven success with MANY students who have reached their own individual dreams of working on Broadway, National Tours, Film, Television, Commercials, and other mediums. Proven success on my own as an equity actor, director, designer, producer, and educator receiving accolades on a National level in the form of awards, glowing reviews, and developing a solid reputation as a skilled, passionate, and very successful artist. This is all in addition to being a comprehensive theatre major at Western Illinois University. Before that, performing in 3 award-winning choirs in High School, as well as attaining Honor Thespian status in Drama. To top all of that off, I was a member of our Jazz and Symphonic Band and state winner in multiple categories of our Forensics Team (speech and debate).
