FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $40 per hour for most of my services. Speaking engagements are charged at a higher rate, depending on the nature of the event. Additionally, I am happy to review work outside of our meetings (manuscripts, video presentations, resume's, etc.), but will also charge the same hourly rate for that time. I charge $50 for a basic cover letter or resume. Our very first meeting will be when you decide if I am the right person for helping you--and there won't be any charge.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our first meeting will be one in which I learn about your reasons for seeking my services. I will want to learn about your goals, what you have done to reach those in the past and at the present, and how you hope to move forward. After that, we will decide the best strategy for moving forward. I will propose a strategy with check-points along the way. I will also encourage you to be candid and patient with how things are progressing and changes that might make our relationship a better one for your needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA and MA in speech communication studies. I have been a communication professor for 35 years; during 25 of those years I have coordinated degree programs in speech communication studies and sports communication. I have also been a speech and debate coach-educator for all of those 35 years, having coached over 30 national champions. I have also designed and delivered a number of corporate training programs in listening, persuasive communication, speaking, and conflict management.
