FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I enjoy speaking with a prospective client over the phone for ease and clarity of communication. This allows for additional knowledge and awareness on both ends as the new relationship is being established.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have received training through an apprenticeship and position as a piano technician with a piano service company in the Twin Cities, working for them for over 2 years, tuning and servicing 4 pianos a day. Upon leaving to start my own business, I have worked for a piano restoration company to learn more about the rebuilding process in order to inform my own practices in regards to specialized repairs. I started my own company, Presto Piano Service in October 2021 and have since joined the Piano Technicians Guild local chapter and have attended meetings and conferences. Additionally I have earned a Bachelors degree in Music Industry as well as Jazz Studies from Minnesota State University Moorhead. I am an actively performing and recording musician, songwriter, vocalist, pianist, and guitarist. I have taught lessons in piano, guitar, and voice throughout my career.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I entered the piano technician world 3.5 years ago with an apprenticeship (and consequently a position as a piano technician) for a company in the metro. I have tuned/serviced over 2,500 pianos since then.
