Introduction

As opposed to having each student buy the same book at the same starting point and teaching the same thing to everyone I try to get an understanding of what my students are trying to accomplish. That way, each student gets a personalized curriculum that fits their aspirations. I love how every student I get is different. I teach all ages, all levels of experience, and every student has a different goal, so every experience is unique. I get the opportunity to learn how to become a better instructor, as well as teaching what I love to do: PLAY DRUMS!

Colin has unique ability's to approach teaching from different perspectives, regardless of experience or age. He has developed a solid base foundation of materials to stay on task, and customizes exercise's to help in the areas you fall short. I am a long time educator so I recognize good instruction, and Colin is at the top of the heap! He is clear, patient, reflective, and provides excellent explanations. Most importantly, he orients lessons to my level of skill and learning style, and pushes me just enough for improvement. FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing Clarinet when I was 7 years old and learned to read music. From there I found a passion for drumming, I played in the High school jazz band and played with several groups outside of school as well. I went to school for recording arts in Texas, where I continued to study and practice drums and play in bands. I finally ended up in Minnesota, where I have set up a business teaching drums. I still play in bands and recently attended a drumming Master Class with Benny Greb in New York.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I fell in love with drumming at a very young age and I knew that I had to one day make a career out of it. As soon as I started teaching I found that I also loved instructing and had a natural talent for it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with drummers from ages 6-69, from beginners to experts, and I've worked with children with disabilities and adults with learning disabilities.
