- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once an appointment has been made, we come to you! Whether at your home or office, we offer consultation on products, color and function. We then measure your windows, and provide you your quote. All of this in the convenience of your home or office, and best of all, this process is free of charge with no obligation to buy anything!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Specialty Shades & Interiors began as Window Energy Systems in 1983, specializing in products that saved energy through windows. We invented the first tracked solarium shades system of it's kind, which created a new company... Suntrak Industries. From there we continued to evolve through the years, and today enjoy working with our customers more than ever.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've actually been involved in the Window coverings industry since about 1981. My initial participation in the industry was part of a project I put together in college on alternative energy, and energy conservation. The "Energy Crisis" was in full swing at the time, and for the typical homeowner, the #1 area of concern was, and still is, heat loss through windows. There were new products introduced dubbed "movable insulation", and I used props to demonstrate their effectiveness. To summarize... I eventually started a company in '83, which led to the invention of the first tracked, motorized, insulating shade system for solariums and skylights. In '86 I moved to the Mpls area, and established my own division within a global solarium manufacturing company, producing custom shade systems for their units. My experience has allowed me to research the very best products available for residential and commercial applications, and we stand ready to work with you on your next project!
