FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on the size of the item and the detail/complexity. All fabric and supplies are charged at-cost. Time and labor are either at an hourly or per square-foot rate. T-shirt quilts are charged at $12/hr (a twin-sized top takes about 12-15 hours, pre-layering and finishing time). Basic/intermediate quilt patterns are charged at $15/sq foot. Advanced/Applique at $25/sq foot. Basic ball-park estimates are as follows: --Nursery/small wall-hanging: ~$250 --Large wall-hanging/Throw: ~$500 --Twin: ~$800 --Queen/King: ~$1,000 I am willing to work with you on your pricing needs by making a pattern more simple or complex to better fit your budget. The more intricate the design, the more time, fabric, and effort. I strive to be transparent on cost so you know what to expect. I request that 1/3 of the cost is paid at agreement, 1/3 at the quilting stage and the last 1/3 at quilt pick-up.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I strive to make a product that matches and exceeds your expectations. The only way I can do that is by knowing what you are looking for! This involves the quilt size, pattern, colors, and any other ideas you have. Don't have all these answers up front? That is ok! I can offer suggestions, ideas and will work with you in making those decisions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 15 years of quilting experience. Before my current full-time office job, I used to work in a local fabric store. I loved helping customers pick out their quilt fabrics and calculating how much fabric they would need. I self-teach myself new techniques and enjoy trying new patterns and develop my own designs.
