FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We do have a minimum cost for kitchens and baths. It varies depending upon the square footage and location of bathroom but there is a base price and then whatever the customer wants adds onto that. For example, if you decide to get marble tile instead of porcelain there is going to be an increase in cost. The cost doesn’t just go into the material but it goes into the labor and installation and the tools needed to install that particular item. There is also a base of knowledge which goes into different materials- any person that can do those things is going to want more money because it is more of a rare trade these days.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Depending upon the scale of project, we typically sit with a homeowner and go over every aspect of a build. For example, if we do kitchen or bathrooms we want to sit and go over every aspect of flooring vanity or cabinet and then countertop surfaces. Sometimes plumbing and electrical have to be moved and these are things that need to be addressed with homeowners. Sometimes walls have to come down. There are always different things that have to happen in these builds. There’s no such thing as a quick flip in a bathroom or a quick kitchen. It really is a form of surgery in a home and people have to realize and respect that and treat it accordingly. Even do it yourself or homeowners who tackle these projects find themselves overwhelmed at the many many aspects they never anticipated.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The main focus of my degree in college was construction and construction management. I also had a major in welding until a severe injury kept me in construction.
