Introduction
I use my 10 years of experience as a police officer and prior experience as an assistant prosecuting attorney to the advantage of my clients by identifying and attacking the legal, factual, or practical deficiencies that exist in ALL cases. I have represented people charged with anything from assault to murder. I served 5 years in the Marine Corps, including a tour in Iraq. I have experience working at the state legislature and the governor's office. I also worked for a state circuit court judge as well as two federal judges on at the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. As a prosecutor, I’ve handled cases of various complexity from OWI to criminal sexual conduct to complex multimillion dollar fraud cases. I have been interviewed by local and national media about topics including Michigan's child protective services policy and practice and a veteran's perspective and reflection 9/11. I also appeared on The Real and Fox and Friends and was featured on CNN, NBC Nightly News, HLN, and other news outlets around the world. I know the ins and outs of how police officers do their job, what they should do, how they should do it, and what they shouldn't do. I know what happens behind the scenes. I know how to get information that others don't. I know what the prosecutor is looking for, I know the angel the prosecutor uses, and I can identify weaknesses in their case and discuss it with them (which is something many attorneys don't do) to achieve a favorable outcome for my client. **FEES** Due to the large number of requests for payments, I’m putting this up here for clarity: I do not begin work until the fee is paid up front and in full. This is the same for 99.9% of attorneys. I do not accept payments for the up-front fee. The reason is simple: I have before and got burned.

He quoted me 5k for a child support case it was ridiculous and then I told him I had got quotes two other places for half as much the retainer fee and he told me basically that I would ‘get what I pay for’ 😂 Yeah…. I’m extremely happy with my current lawyer who has way more credibility, experience, and knowledge behind him. This guy dabbles in a bit of everything, so if you want ‘jack of all trades’ maybe he’s your guy, but don’t expect him to be an expert in any single thing.
Ben Hall Law's reply
Hi Korina. I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to review me for an estimate provided to you. The $5,000 was an estimate for a retainer—not the total cost for representation. I don’t take cases for less than a $5,000 retainer. I’m glad you were able to find an attorney to take your case and hopefully you got the results you were looking for.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We charge $350 per hour for all cases. All cases require a retainer paid up front. The amount depends on the details of the case, but is no less than $5,000 for misdemeanors and $10,000 for felonies. If you would like an in-person or virtual consultation, I charge $500 for a 1-hour consultation regarding your case. Prior to the consultation, you can send me the police report to review and I will provide my legal opinion and overall strategy during the consultation. The consultation fee must be made in advance. If you decide to retain me, the fee is applied to the retainer fee. I do offer discounts for veterans.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have nearly 10 years of law enforcement experience, 2 years working at the prosecutor's office, I've interned for two federal judges on the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Find someone who’s passionate about helping you—not someone who just takes your money.
