Introduction
Welcome to my page! A bit about my studio- I have taught both violin and viola for over six years. My teaching is inspired by the famous pedagogue Karen Tuttle which leads to an emphasis on relaxed playing, total body integration, and breathing, as well as other aspects from Tuttle’s “Coordination Technique”. For beginning students, I draw from apects of Mimi Zweig's String Pedagogy (available to view online) and the Suzuki System. Parents are encouraged to learn along side their children, and are involved in the practicing and performing processes. While I teach primarily classical based training, I am always excited to branch out and invest time in other types of music that peaks the student’s interest, from pop songs to Irish fiddle tunes. I have a deep passion for music and hope to share this passion with any student I have the opportunity to teach. COVID-19 Update: Online Lessons are available. For in-person lessons, masks will be worn and I will provide hand sanitizer.

Emma started teaching my child the violin a few weeks ago and so far it has been a real success. She is very talented and knowledgeable about the instrument and technical repertoire. And my kid really likes her, Emma inspired her to practice everyday.

Emma taught my daughter for two years, and I have nothing but gratitude for her. Emma was only in high school then, but she showed marvelous aptitude for teaching, she encouraged my daughter and fostered in her a true love of music. Being a classically trained musician myself, I can tell you how impressed I was with Emma's level of playing as well as her knowledge of teaching theories and techniques. No lesson is ever a waste with her.

I reached out to Emma after a friend of mine recommended her to me for music theory help. On my first session, I was able to grasp simple music theory concepts that I had not been able to understand on my own. She was able to really simplify it and explain it to me with the upmost patience even after I felt like I was getting everything wrong. After my first session, I inquired about violin lessons and she sent me home with an assignment to start looking at an intermediate violin piece she picked out that would suit my skill level (I am a novice violin player with some experience). She was very quick to respond when I reached out to her on feedback on choosing my piece. On my second session, she started out with a very organized lesson plan for me and a practice schedule that she typed up for me to stick to. Her lessons are very organized and very informative which have definitely helped me see improvement in my playing just after a couple of lessons. I highly recommend reaching out to Emma if you are looking to get quality lessons from a professional musician !

The progress that I’m making is consistent because Emma is patient and encouraging when it comes to practice. She shares helpful resources that help guide my learning in theory and notation. I learned much from her and I am enjoying my lessons.
