With 20 years of experience, I know how to set my students up for success.
My lesson are online only. If you live in Michigan, I offer in person lessons at my home studio in Lake Orion, Michigan.
Hello! I have a warm personality, and I'm great at working with students of all types, ages 4 to 60+. My students have fun and learn quickly, because I meet them where they are. They can expect to play music they enjoy while developing great technique and reading skills. I teach how to learn music by example, how to read sheet music, play solos, improvise, and how to play with a band. Whether it’s your first lesson or you’re preparing for an audition, I’m ready to help you achieve your goals.
Former students have studied at University of Michigan, University of Southern California, Eastern Michigan University, Oakland University, Central Michigan University, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. One of my former students, Jeffrey Grant, is a Grammy award winning percussionist with the LA Philharmonic and President's Own Marine Band.
First lesson is free! I offer flexible scheduling and payment options, please ask about my discounts.
I offer thirty minute and sixty minute lessons. Here’s the process we’ll go through every weekly lesson.
1. Warm-up. Review how to use the right technique, posture, and hand position.
Piano students will review the scales, chords, and arpeggios in the key of the song they're working on.
Drummers will play eight on a hand, 3-2 clave, and other basic patterns along with great music at just the right speed. (slowly)
2. Review music from the previous lesson.
3. Learn new music, or keep working on the same.
4. Performance. Before your lesson is over, you’ll be playing today’s music with confidence on your own!
5. Take notes.
5. Practice every day.
6. Repeat!
