FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally I can work with customers on either an hourly basis or by quote although certain jobs I will only do one or the other depending on certain job specifics. If I have to supply materials I generally will mark them up between 10% and 25% depending on how much time and expense is required for me to obtain them. Customers who wish to save some money can do so by providing me with the materials needed to complete the job.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working construction management for the majority of the last 7 years.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been hands on and have always enjoyed building things and problem solving. I grew up on a farm which was an ideal environment for cultivating these abilities. After I got my drivers license I started working for a local contractor and continued to work for various contractors while going to collage and in the years that followed. Over time my level of management continued to grow and in 2017 my commitments due to my position in the company were such that they were taking away from my family so at the season I left and took on another management position with a smaller company. After a full season there I realized that If I was going to stay in construction I would need to be working for myself so I could balance work and family and still make a decent living. I left my then current job and jumped right into working for myself. That first step was a leap of faith. It was a little unnerving stepping into an unknown but I have been blessed with more than enough work to provide for the needs of my family.
