FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every assignment is different and as such it is difficult to establish a firm fixed price without a clear understanding of the scope and expectations of the client. For most assignments, I prefer to quote a fixed price. That way, on shoot day, no one is looking at the clock and can focus on producing the best images possible. I do offer discounts to repeat customers and for referrals, but that is done on a selective basis.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Communication is key, and establishing a rapport must begin in the planning stages of a shoot. I spend as much time as necessary going over the intangible details (mood, message, and personal meaning) as the practical details (location, wardrobe, time of day, etc.). During this discussion I can learn where my client is coming from and where she/he wants to go with the imagery so I can make images that fit their objectives. It also lays out the requirements, i.e., what they should bring with them and other things they should do to prepare.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been shooting semi-professionally for more than 40 years.
