Introduction
Imagine your perfect wedding. All of your closest friends and family eagerly await the ceremony. You’ve hired a musician to set the mood and keep the guests entertained. The music that’s played will be their first impression of how the day’s events will unfold. You want everything to be fun. Classy. Unique. You don’t want a recital. You don’t want a playlist. You want a soundtrack. You want a soundtrack that’s composed live just for your event, adapting to the ebb and flow of the atmosphere in the air. You want a unique acoustic sound that is real, romantic, and fun but not quite classical, not quite jazz, not quite singer-songwriter. I treat my guitar like a drum and piano to bring you sounds that are full, rich, and intimate. The style is flashy enough to be entertaining without being distracting. If this sounds like the perfect way to lead into your ceremony. Let’s talk! Here's what you can expect when you work with me: + Easy payments via Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo! + Quick response time! + A no-nonsense, itemized quote! + Video/audio samples made just for you! + Flexibility to have BOTH piano and guitar for your ceremony/cocktail for the price of ONE musician! + FREE use of sound system and microphone for the ceremony and announcements! + WOW service! The joy that my clients feel when they realize that their wedding ceremony music doesn't have to be a bland, generic playlist played by nearly all other ceremony musicians/DJs out there ... that they can get a piece of music composed or arranged just for them to reflect their one-of-a-kind relationship! Your wedding will be one of the biggest parties you throw, and I want to play my part to make it extraordinary! Thank you!

Your Unique Guitarist & Pianist's reply
Hi Emily! Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm so sorry that I fell short on communication. Since we worked together, I've drastically changed my communication structure to make sure I'm able to get back to you in under 24 hours. If you and Phil are back in the DC area and would like some background music for a lunch gathering with friends or family, please reach out, and I'd be happy to provide my services at no cost to you. : )

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

$350 - Ceremony music (guitar or piano) $450 - Cocktail hour / events spanning 3+ hours $100 - Add another instrument (guitar or piano) These are here are general guidelines. We'll discuss your exact needs over the phone so I can provide you with an accurate quote. Once you receive a quote, you'll have the ability to approve or request changes if something looks out of line.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Communication! 1. We'll talk about your needs and determine if I'm the best fit. 2. I'll create a website for you where you'll have access to my quote with an itemized list of exactly what you'll get. 3. Contract: I only work under contract to make sure both you and I are protected! 4. Payment: I accept online payments! They're quick, secure, convenient, and you have a record. 5. Continued communication up to the date of the wedding! My website answers the most common questions I'm asked. In light of a previous Thumbtack review, I'm now pledging that I'll respond to messages within 24 hours!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do your research! As you interview different musicians, see if they're asking the right questions to put you at ease. After all, THEY are supposed to be the professionals, not you! Here's a quick guide I put together just for you! Your mindset: 1. You're the employer, they're the employee, not the other way around! They're interviewing for the very important job of providing music for your wedding. 2. Your ceremony musician will be setting the mood an atmosphere for all of your guests. Be clear on what's important. 3. If you have a vision or request, be up front about it. Feeling guilty about asking will only lead to disappointment down the line. Questions to ask them: 1. What do you do best?/Why should I hire you? 2. What forms of payment do you accept? 3. What's the best way for us to communicate? 4. Do you book gigs back to back? 5. Will you take another gig over my wedding if it paid more? 6. What happens if you get sick or have to cancel? 7. Do you offer other services that I should know about? Things to consider during your interviews: 1. How quickly do they communicate with me? 2. Is this someone I want at my wedding? 3. Will they honor my requests and be honest about their capabilities? 4. Are they focused on my needs? 5. Do I like their music, personality, and offerings?
