I made an appointment on August 6th for AJ&B Carpet Solutions to clean my carpet at 1pm August 16th. The owner, Ashton, confirmed the appointment and required at $25 deposit. On August 16th at 9:15am, Ashton texts that he will arrive between 1pm and 2pm. We confirmed ten days prior that he would arrive at 1pm. So I text at 9:20am for him to arrive at 2pm (to give him time to address what he needed that caused him to offer a window versus the initially agreed upon time). He confirmed to arrive at 2pm. At 2:09pm, he texts saying that his ETA is closer to 2.30pm. I shared that it will not work for me since I was not pleased that he did not provide a courtesy text to indicate he would be late. I had to rearrange my schedule to accommodate the appointment. I asked him to refund the $25 deposit in light of his actions. He shared that per the policy he cannot provide a refund but I can reschedule only to be required to pay for the carpet cleaning service upfront.
I hope Ashton will eventually realize that the customer is always right and that the keeping $25 isn’t worth gaining a negative reputation in doing business, especially since he is wrong.
