Introduction

Welcome to Tutor with Joshua! My passion is to ensure those I tutor learn the most out of their sessions with me. I believe anyone can learn and master any subject—with determination and assistance. It is no secret that STEM courses can be daunting to those who feel uncomfortable with the subject matter. However, I can assure you STEM practices, specifically Math, Science, and even Excel are easily mastered, provided by my assistance. I have formal experience teaching in a middle school, high school, and college setting. I tutored explicitly in Chemistry and Genetics and have assisted in various subject matters in after-school and summer school programs. Eventually, I would like to get a master’s degree in clinical research, but right now I am a Data Analyst with a prior career as a Chemist. Learning any subject matter, especially STEM and language courses, requires many hours of dedication and memorization to optimize understanding of the subject. Doing required exercises and showing effort to complete extra learning material will prove your benefit and mastery of any course. Asking for help along the way can help assist you in mastering any subject matter. Therefore, picking a tutor that works for you is crucial in understanding any subject matter. Tutors provide a solid foundation for your current understanding of any subject. If you feel I am a good fit for you or would like to ask me questions, please feel free to reach out. I can give you the confidence and perhaps, show you how you can enjoy STEM courses as much as I do. Please read: I currently tutor online and in-person. In-person sessions must be in a 25 mile radius of 20646. There is an additional travel cost beyond 15 miles.

Joshua tutors my daughter who is a Freshman at UC Berkeley. He is very thorough, patient, and intelligent! The workload and curriculum has been very challenging for my daughter but Joshua has provided so much help and guidance for her Chem and Calculus classes! Highly recommend him!!

Knowledgeable, caring, punctual and his rates are actually affordable compared to other tutors on this site (important for a single parent, low-income household such as mine). My daughter was super anxious about tutoring, but she had a B in physics and didn't feel it was sustainable without support. Not only did Joshua make her feel completely at ease, he explained the material in a way she was able to digest. She recently had a test coming up and Joshua didn't rush the session. He went past his time, making sure she understood the material and even offered to be available by phone if she had additional questions before the test. Top notch guy and truly a great investment; we couldn't be more pleased.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer in-person and online packages ranging from 1, 5, 10, 20 sessions. 1 in-person session is $75 and one online session starts at $55. The 5, 10, and 20 session packages do have discounts applied to them. You can earn an additional discount when you refer someone to work with me. There is a travel fee for in-person sessions outside of the 15 mile radius of 20646.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
You could book a free 30 minute consultation to see where you are needing assistance and if we are a good match. We can then determine which type of package would be best to move forward with based on your particular needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Biology from SUNY Potsdam and have been working as a chemist for over 6 years. I have always had a strong knack for science and math topics and am currently using my knowledge of calculus in my job. In college, and now in my free time, I like to study the latest information regarding physics and chemistry. I was a substitute teacher for a year in my local school district. I primarily was teaching science and math subjects during this time. I have been a tutor for over 10 years, individually and for a company. I am also an official member of Mensa so I take my academics and constant will to learn seriously.
