Introduction

We are a non competitive school that prepares the student for performances and help them achieve the joy of learning to play the piano. We are located at two different places: Germantown and Rockville. Virtual lessons are also available. Amy Zhang is the director and has taught piano for almost 15 years to children as young as 4 to adults. Amy enjoys spreading knowledge about music and helping others master an instrument. The deeper understanding is that through playing an instrument, you not only gain dexterity in your fingers, but you also work on developing faster nerve connections between both sides of your mind. Research has said we retain information better through music. We use our sense of sight, hearing, and touch to experience and remember information. Music shapes many higher aspects of brain function, including emotion, language, and other cognitive abilities.

We cannot say enough great things about Amy! She is an excellent piano teacher who truly connects with her students and meets them at their level. Her ability to make lessons fun, engaging, and tailored to each child has kept our 8- and 11-year-olds excited about learning and improving their piano skills for over two years. Amy’s amazing recitals are a highlight for us as a family, providing a wonderful opportunity for the kids to showcase their progress and talents in a supportive and celebratory atmosphere. On top of her teaching skills, she is incredibly flexible and works with us on scheduling, which we deeply appreciate. Amy is an outstanding teacher and her work ethic has been outstanding. My daughter has been learning from her for the past couple of years. She loves Amy’s classes. Amy is very passionate about teaching piano and she goes an extra mile to teach the lessons. Amy is very punctual and is flexible to adjust the class timings to fit your needs. My daughter who’s now in college took lessons from Ms Amy from when she was in elementary school through high school! The progress she made was tremendous, but I think the most vital component of each lesson was that Ms Amy made learning these challenging pieces fun for my child!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
30min - $30, 45min - $45 Lessons can be paid on a monthly basis. In-home lessons are additional by distance: 1-3 miles: $5 3.1-5 miles: $10 5.1-10 miles: $15 Cash, Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal are all accepted. Credit card is optional, but there is a fee of $4.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For new students, the instructor will recommend books during the first lesson. For continuing students with their own books, the instructor will review old material with student and continue the learning process in the same books.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Amy graduated Montgomery College with a Music Degree. She has experience on teaching in group settings at The Little Gym. Amy strives to connect with younger students to teach the most interesting classes. For older students, Amy helps develop thorough ways to practice the piano.
