FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed a four-year apprenticeship program through the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC), where I earned my journeyman’s license. Alongside that, I completed eight years of on-the-job training, which gave me a strong foundation in both residential and commercial electrical work. After gaining that hands-on experience, I went on to earn my master electrician’s license in Maryland. I also stay current with code changes by taking continuing education courses every three years. Staying up-to-date with the latest standards and best practices is important to me—it’s how I make sure my customers are getting safe, code-compliant, and high-quality work every time.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got started in the electrical field fresh out of high school, thanks to my dad, who set me up with a job interview at a local electrical company. At the time, I didn’t have much interest in the trade—but that changed quickly. I found myself really drawn to the work. Every day brought something new: creative problem-solving, hands-on challenges, and the chance to meet and work with different people. Before long, I realized this was exactly what I wanted to do. The mix of technical skill, adaptability, and human connection has kept me passionate about the trade ever since.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
⸻ One project we’re especially proud of was a full electrical renovation for a 2,400 square-foot custom home. The house had been completely gutted, giving us the opportunity to design and install a modern electrical system from the ground up. We added recessed lighting throughout, upgraded to sleek matte black outlets and switches, and ran ethernet lines to multiple rooms to future-proof the space for connected living. These are just a few highlights—everything was tailored to the homeowner’s unique vision. Because it was a custom project with a lot of attention to detail and ongoing collaboration with the client, our portion of the work took about a month and a half to complete. It was a great experience, and we’re really proud of how it all came together.
