The project was to paint the interior of a 2500sq of house with one coat for all walls, ceilings, doors and baseboards. Mike originally agreed to a price on the phone and confirmed it on site afterwards. He was lower than the previous two quotes we received outside of Thumbtack but it was the same price received from another Thumbtack contractor. The day he showed up to firm up his quote, he had no issues and said could start right away and complete the job next day. Because of his eagerness and timeline, we agreed to give him the job. It took three days instead of two days he promised to complete the job. On the third day he became somewhat stand-offish towards my husband as he was pointing out obvious deficiencies. Although my husband noticed more issues with his work towards the end of the day, he decided to pay him and closed him to avoid any confrontation. I contacted Mike after the close out to let him know that I was going to check out the job in a couple of days and thus there could be a punch list. I went to the property after two days and told him that he needed to come back. Right away, he was very defensive on the phone but agreed to it. He said he would be back in the AM to address the punch list and that was supposed to be this morning. To our surprise though, he sent a text yesterday evening last minute saying that he would be at the property late afternoon instead. That was very disturbing to us since the punch list could take him some time and we knew he wasn’t going to be done. Anticipating a high probability of pushbacks incase he wasn’t done, we no felt uncomfortable working with him at that point. That’s why we told him we were done and thus he no longer needed to come back. So we are now basically left with dealing with what’s left and ABSOLUTELY not recommend him. His work is subpar, he cuts corners and combative verbally if any rework is required. This was a big lesson learned and we will never make a mistake like this!
