I initially hired Jose to remove the hand railing from my staircase which I urgently needed in order to move the following day.
Since then, I have hired Jose to reinstall the same handrailing, run electrical to where my microwave should be, source and install a cabinet, install my microwave, install a new front door, and run new electrical + install a fan outdoors.
Jose and his team are great because:
- They are on time and work quickly. Jose knows the number of people he will need for each job and their specialties. Additionally, his team is kind and responsive. I asked his team to make sure they closed the basement door when they go down because I was worried about the cats, and I never had to ask them again - they insured that every single time they went down, the door was closed (same was true with the storm door).
- They left my house better than they found it each day - they covered all furniture that might get stuff on it and made sure to vacuum, remove any tarps, etc when they left for the day. This is really important to me as I don't like to feel like I'm living in a construction zone even when his team is coming back the next day.
- Jose is very good at talking you through options. When something unexpected comes up (and it will), he tells you about the problem and then walks you through your options. He is honest about solutions and costs. It's really invaluable to have someone that will tell you "you have a few options, x will be more expensive but you won't have to think about it again. y will be pretty cheap but it will be an issue for you in about 10 years" and then lets you make a thoughtful decision. Also, Jose has been good at telling me when he thinks a project isn't worth the cost to me and suggesting alternatives.
- Perhaps a culmination of the above feedback and most important to me, they pay attention to the details. For example, today, they added additional screws to stabilize the beams for my porch fan and went through the additional effort to add drywall and paint over each and every screw to make sure it wasn't visible. When adding a new outlet, they made sure it was perfectly in line with the other ones on the opposing walls. His team understands that their work is functional AND aesthetic.
I'm a bit hesitant to leave this review because I don't want Jose to get so busy that he can no longer do jobs for me. But, it'd be a disservice if I let his work go unrecommended.

When I was looking to hire a company to build my dream office space, I was deciding between 3 companies. I chose JMV Home Improvement, and I'm incredibly happy that I did for a number of reasons below:
Many aspects of JMV's work impressed me deeply, from the exactness of Jose’s craftsmanship and attention to detail, to his punctuality, to Jose’s team leadership and respect for my home - but the one aspect I valued most was Jose’s honesty and his ability to educate me on unexpected hiccups we would encounter along the way. I’ll elaborate further:
The job as I originally envisioned had a number of roadblocks, facts about my own home that I was not aware of, that Jose identified through extensive calculations. Jose explained that average contractors would not point out these roadblocks to the homeowner and would complete the job in the easiest way possible. Each roadblock presented multiple possible paths we could take, and Jose meticulously explained the consequences of each path and advised me on the best approach. Together we navigated all the unforeseen challenges, and I am 100% confident that we arrived at the optimal outcome. Jose’s transparency and ability to teach me is what every homeowner needs for any important renovation.
Additionally, I made a few unexpected requests over the course of the project, including applying finishing oil to the wood paneling for my office walls, installing a new power outlet, and cutting precise holes in the wood to cleanly access the new power outlet. I appreciated Jose’s flexibility in accommodating new requests midway through the project.
JMV exceeded my expectations in creating my dream home office, demonstrating a level of mastery only attained after a lifetime of work. If you are looking for a team you can trust to build your most important project, look no further than JMV!

Jose and his team EXCEEDED all of my expectations for our fireplace project. From a bare wall, he built a custom frame for our fireplace insert, talked with me in detail about all of my options and how he would be doing it. This was a smaller project for him team but I was still made to feel like a priority, the job was complete on time, His team was on time and so professional. I recently had wainscoting installed in my home, and I couldn't be happier with the results! The crew, led by Jose, was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. They repaired the box bay window on my house and replaced some wood with PVC and painted. They were reliable and completed the job promptly as stated. The end result looks fantastic and is a great improvement. Jose also made suggestions and modifications for a previous failed repair. I will hire them again for further work. I also like that they gave me 2 quotes according to how much I wanted to spend, I could have spent less and fixed it more frequently. I wanted it to last but sometimes money is the main object. Not every contractor that gave me an estimate gave me that option or recommended better improvements. I will be referring people and myself to JMV in the near future.
