Introduction

I believe my business stands out as reflective of my shared vision where my work is created by hand. I draw from observation and create all my works from start to final installation as a reflection of my best pursuit as an artist. My range as a sign painter, and decorative finisher,and scenic painter has taught me to develop depth in my approach to my work. I am delighted to be expanding as a muralist. My work as a muralist has brought me into many ways in which to create. In working as a visiting artist in schools, to working on corporate industrials, my love for murals and scenic art has grown in such an exciting way.

I have worked with David Cunniingham on a number of projects for my home. He is a precise and creative artist who gives much thought and creativity to each project. He borrows from his many experiences to put together original pieces that fit the client's needs and dreams. David is timely in his response to clients and keeps on track in a manner that permits him to finish projects on the promised date. He touches base with clients at regular intervals to keep them abreast of any alterations that he wants to make or deletions that he has come to see as necessary. David is a talented professional who is generous in his explosive ideas that come ot him as he envisions the stages of a project and the end result. He has painted a whimsical character on a wall in my home. He has designed a large mobile for another section of my home. Both are great treasures. David Cunningham is one of the most prolific painters around. He puts his heart, effort and finesse into every project he is challenged with. He is friendly and patient, neat and thorough. He listens intently to the client makes sure their wishes are carried out. He loves his community and being enmeshed in it. As a fellow muralist and scenic artist, I can say, with confidence that Cunningham is quite possibly one of the greatest secrets in American art history...

David was responsive, creative, and professional. This was more of an art reject than anything else, but required outdoor painting. We love the result.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I price either by square footage or by day. I can assess by experience and knowledge of the medium and type of work. I can determine cost more accurately if I can break down the steps of a particular finish or mural process.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually meet with my client after a phone conversation. I make a preliminary drawing to assess the scope and range of a particular project. I love Thumbtack for the breadth and range of projects.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked with many artists including Stepan Lazarev and Amy Jesaitis in my earliest days as a training artist in NYC. In 1990 I received my first commission to create a mural for R.J. Reynolds Cafe on Park in NYC. It was a thrill meeting with several partners and being able to create a mural based on an Italian influenced mural with athleticism and speed. David Brewster has been an influence in my work as well. In Baltimore, I have worked as a scenic artist at Maryland Rep Stage, and Line One Productions in Sterling ,Virginia. I have learned how to be flexible in working with set designers Tony Cisek and scenic artists Ann Chismar.
