Contacted Marcus because I had water in my basement. He came to our house and walked me through the process, he gave me specific details in regards of what I would need to get done. After we discussed all the details he sent me the quote, of which was very affordable compared to other companies. I’m glad I was able to find Waterproofing company here on thumbtack and working with Marcus was a blessing. I know that moving forward I will recommend him to everyone. Marcus and his crew are AMAZING! After noticing a wet rug in the basement, I asked four contractors to assess the problem. Three just looked at the basement and made recommendations. But Marcus more thoroughly evaluated the situation, including hosing the outside of the house to determine the source of the basement water. As a result, he was able to determine the best way to address the problem, installing a drainage system outside of the house, rather than inside as he initially suggested and other contractors recommended. Based on his assessment, Marcus created a well thought out, detailed plan. He was great at explaining the needed work and answering all my questions. Marcus’ impressive knowledge of his trade and problem solving skills are only surpassed by his commitment to helping customers. It was a difficult job. The house is built into a hill on rock ledge, so the crew encountered lots of rocks and tree roots, and had to lug equipment, materials and debris up and down the hill. But they weren’t daunted by the arduous labor required, even working until 10:30 one night to finish two dry wells before the rain predicted for the next day. The foundation was also parge coated, to repair numerous cracks and holes. The entire job was completed skillfully, with careful attention to detail. Marcus and his crew provided first rate, top-notch quality craftsmanship and were great to work with! I would HIGHLY recommend Effective Waterproofing to anyone needing waterproofing services.

I am so lucky to have found Effective Waterproofing. I had an old sump pump that needed immediate replacing. After talking with a few other contractors, I connected with Marcus. Marcus took the time to understand the type of system I had in place already and explained my options. He was able to come out the same day and assess how I could ensure my basement remained water-free. Marcus and his team are knowledgeable, responsive, and overall a pleasure to work with. Effective Waterproofing did good work. Markus was quick to respond and come by for a quote. I reached out to several contractors for this job, and the rest wanted to do more than I was looking for. Markus was the first to suggest we start with the most practical solution, and if that wasn’t enough, then we look into doing more. My basement had water coming in one side whenever the ground was saturated. Effective Waterproofing put in a channel as well as a sump pump. The water is pumped out to a pipe that is also tied into my downspout, moving a lot of water away from the house to a pop-up in the yard. Markus communicated well. This started with a thorough scoping of the job; he didn’t just pace my basement and throw me a number. The quote was broken down into parts, making it easy to pick and choose the scope of the work (think good, better, best). We came up with a plan and Effective Waterproofing executed. The invoice was line-itemed and the whole process was clear and simple. He was willing to talk by phone, email, text message, or in-person and answered my many questions. They showed up the day they said they would, worked hard (and late one day/night), and did quality work. They weren’t like some contractors who start the job and then go and start another job saying they’ll be back in a week or so to finish. They put in three hard days and then came back on the weekend because conditions were wetter than expected and the concrete needed more time to dry. There was a lot of rubble, dust, and mess, but they cleaned up nicely. While they were in the basement, they found some issues with my lolly columns. Markus laid out the problems and potential solutions. Again, he gave me options but suggested the most cost-effective and practical solution. There was no pressure to do extra work, and we again came up with a plan I’m happy with. Most importantly, the work looks good, the price was fair, and so far, it seems to have solved the problem. If not, I trust Markus to come back and work with me to make it right, and that is invaluable in a contractor. I expect to do more work in the future such as running more downspouts underground to a dry-well, and I will definitely call them back again.

Marcus and George did an excellent job resolving our foundation problem! They found the culprit, a crack running deep, fixed it and waterproofed the area inside and outside, treated the mold, and placed a sum pump to divert any water coming from the sloping backyard. And they did all this within the time promised! I highly recommend Effective Waterproofing team for their expertise as well as professionalism and value for the work quality! And they would clean the area daily which was a bonus!! Thanks a million from Teresa and Luisa.
