FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I pride myself on my prices. I am here to build my business to create a quality product for an extremely reasonably price. I am also willing to match or beat quotes from other reputable masonry companies to ensure the customer gets the best possible price. I am certain my prices are extremely fair. There are many masons known to significantly over-charge, especially when it comes to projects that are more tedious or mundane (like stair repairs, repointing, tuck pointing, stone repairs, chimney repairs, foundation work). They overprice to make it more “worth it”. Some even up-charge based on the customer’s zip code. I don’t care where you live. My only concern is what the job entails and agreeing on a fair price that works for both of us.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got into masonry 15 years ago. I began in my early twenties working as a laborer for reputable companies as a laborer, learning the basics of cement, concretes, mortar, and the different types/consistencies and the different tools and application processes. After mastering it at a basic level, I moved up to laying brick, block and stone. Then, I was able to delve deeper into the design process on how to transform stonework and brickwork. I stuck with it, and after over a decade working for other companies, I decided to branch out on my own so I could ensure things were done correctly under my control, to my high standards and be more involved in the entire process. I thuroughly enjoy masonry projects especially transforming a portion of a property to make a home or business more appealing. I ensure my work will last and be structurally and integrally sound, enjoyed by customers for decades to come.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It is important for you, as the customer to choose a mason who is detail oriented, and willing to explain what needs to be done through the entire process. Ideally they are providing photos throughout the beginning, middle, and end so you can see and understand what was actually done. With these extra details, you can ensure no shortcuts or “band-aid” fixes were made. You also want to know your mason is using quality products/materials from reliable suppliers. Finally it is important to understand all the options homeowners have. The customer almost always has multiple options (depending on the project of course) for repair work and new builds at different price points. If your mason isn’t explaining all of your options, you should get an additional quote.
