Before May, I had never picked up a violin. Now, I’ve had a few lessons with Alex, and I am beyond impressed. He is very encouraging and patient with me. I’m an adult trying to learn the basics of playing violin before I head off to college, and I’m glad I chose to take lessons from him. I like his approach of practicing different variations to rhythms and style for certain songs and scales. It’s something I would’ve never though to do on my own, and it has helped me improve while practicing the violin and my music theory. I would recommend him any day to anyone.

As an adult learner recently returning to the violin, Alex has provided me with an entirely new mindset to approach my instrument, which has not only allowed me to feel more confident in my approach, but has also reminded me that musicality is creative, personal and--the one I forget most often--enjoyable. His teaching style is incredibly customized and accommodating: he provides excellent technical pointers, but he gives you freedom to truly explore and figure out who you are, musically. I look forward to more of his guidance!

Alex is a great teacher who really takes into account your own musical taste and doesn't force you into a rabbit hole of learning. He's flexible to your schedule and is willing to go above and beyond to make sure you're continually leveling up. He also has some great recommendations for where to rent violins etc...

First Lesson free! Tuition is due the first week of the month.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My first priority is to understand their goals and desires and set forward a clear plan of how we can attain them. I want the student to have a clear perspective of what skills are necessary in learning the violin so that he/she may learn independently as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was taught by Aaron Rosand from the Curtis Institute of Music, Eugenia Alikhanova from the Moscow string quartet, and Ference Ilenyi of the Houston Symphony. I graduated from the Lamont School of Music under Linda Wang.
