FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first consultation is a Free phone conversation so you feel comfortable with me, and then we schedule your initial session for an assessment and indroductory training/education. From there, we will decide on a plan to continue working together with the frequency and price that suits you best. I offer discounted rates for clients purchasing sessions in bulk or on a recurring monthly basis. I also accept most Insurances for Medical Nutrition Therapy with a Dr referral. This must me discussed in detail and preauthorized with your Insurance agency before committing to work with me if intending on using Insurance as your primary means of payment. All payments are due by the start of each session
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We should start with a phone call to review your needs and expectations of our sessions to come. The first paid session is a bit of an interview to gather of lifestyle, habits, medical and exercise history, eating and drinking patterns, and outlining short term and long term goals. If exercise is involved, the initial session focuses on teaching the fundamentals of correct techniques and an outline of what a customized weekly routine will become. This is also where the framework is developed for meal plans, grocery shopping lists, and the structure for changing behaviors and habits. I individualize the process with each customer...there's no cookie cutting here, because everyone has different needs and should take their own path to achieve success.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began my education with a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Human Performance at the University of Connecticut, including studies in Athletic Training, Nutritional Sciences, and Business Administration. In 2005 I became certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Personal Trainer and as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist. I followed this up with a Master's level graduate program in Nutritional Sciences with a research project comparing the quality of protein in food and its impact on preserving muscle while dieting and exercising. I then went on to a Dietetic Internship at the University of Houston to gain valuable clinical and counseling experience. Soon thereafter in 2008 I passed the national exam to become a Registered Dietitian.
