Make sure that you understand what services are being provided for the price that is quoted. There are lots of people saying that they can create a website, but do they understand how to market your site? Are they using a template program that can't be optimized properly so you can be found in the search engines? Make sure that you choose a company that has been around for awhile, not a college student who is doing this part time, and who won't be around when you need changes to your site. Check the work that they have done in the past. Ask for references. Read your contract carefully. Make sure that you fully own the website and artwork when the work is complete.
