FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
At HKF Construction, we prioritize transparency and fairness in our pricing. We offer competitive rates that reflect the quality and expertise we bring to each project. While some contractors may provide unusually low quotes, this often leads to issues such as incomplete work or subpar quality, ultimately causing frustration for clients. It’s essential to be cautious of exceptionally low prices, as they may indicate potential problems or even scams. Regarding discounts, we offer special promotions during company anniversaries or other events. Additionally, depending on the project’s size, we may provide discounts to accommodate our clients’ budgets. As for additional fees, we maintain a straightforward approach. Extra charges apply only for unforeseen circumstances or changes requested by the client during the project. For example, if a bathroom renovation wasn’t initially planned to include a window replacement, and the client later decides to add this, we will inform them of the additional cost before proceeding. We ensure that all changes and associated costs are approved by the client in advance, maintaining transparency throughout the process. Our commitment to fair pricing and clear communication has resulted in successful projects and satisfied clients. We believe that a well-informed client is a happy client, and we strive to uphold this principle in every project we undertake.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our typical process is as follows: 1. Initial Visit: We start with a complimentary on-site visit to assess the scope of work. This visit is free of charge. 2. Proposal Submission: After evaluating the project, we provide a detailed proposal outlining the work to be done. 3. Contract Agreement: If you accept the proposal, we proceed by drafting and signing a contract to formalize our agreement. 4. Permit Acquisition: If the project requires permits, we handle the entire permitting process on your behalf, coordinating with the building department to ensure all necessary approvals are obtained. 5. Material Planning and Design Consultation: While the permit is under review, we begin planning the procurement of materials. For projects like bathroom or kitchen remodels, we collaborate with you on design choices and place orders for necessary items. If architectural or engineering designs are needed, we engage the appropriate professionals during this phase to prepare the required plans. 6. Project Scheduling: Once the permit is approved, we inform you of the anticipated start date based on our availability and project schedule. 7. Construction and Communication: We commence work as scheduled, adhering to all permit requirements. Throughout the project, we maintain open communication, keeping you informed of each step and any developments. 8. Project Completion: Our goal is to complete the work efficiently and to the highest standards, minimizing disruption to your daily life.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to the experience I gained working alongside my father for many years, I have pursued various courses and contractor training programs to further my skills. I hold an Unrestricted Construction Supervisor License (CSL), which allows me to oversee a wide range of construction projects. With this license, I handle the entire permitting process, supervise job sites, and maintain direct communication with city inspectors. This means my clients don’t have to deal with any bureaucratic aspects; I manage everything, including scheduling and coordinating inspections with city officials. I am committed to continuous learning and daily improvement to ensure the highest quality of work for my clients.
