I am a professional working musician. I have been hired to perform and record with other musicians, I am proficient in many genres of music and all of it incorporate into my teaching style. I enjoy teaching and seeing how students grow in their musical ability. Ive had the pleasure of studying guitar under Shimon in his in-home Acton studio for a couple of years. He is an accomplished musician - knowledgable about music theory, composition and playing guitar and bass; and he is an authentic and kind person in his teaching style and his interactions. His Acton studio is an inviting, comfortable atmosphere in which to learn. Shimon encourages students to practice, to be themselves and to have fun playing music. He is a great musical mentor and has excellent rapport with students of all ages. I very much enjoy his lessons, value his guidance, and have improved my guitar playing skills under his tutelage. I highly recommend Shimon as an instructor for guitar and bass for students of all ages, abilities and musical styles.

I have been a member of Shimon's blues ensemble for 5 or 6 years. Through the years, the composition of the group has changed and one of his many strengths is how effectively he is able to work with whatever combination of instruments and levels there are in the room. If there are three guitars, he suggests different ways of strumming or chord voicings tailored to each of our abilities. For a while his group had two saxophones, a trumpet, key board, base guitar, two rhythm guitars, and drums plus a vocalist, and he did a great job orchestrating under these conditions as well.

I had the utmost pleasure to study bass under Shimon for a year during high school. From my lessons with Shimon I learned essential bass techniques and music theory knowledge that helped me become the bassist I am today. He encourages all his students to work hard which is always ann important aspect of a teacher. Not only is Shimon an excellent teacher, but he truly brings you into his studio with open arms as your mentor and friend.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I believes that playing music should be fun, not overwhelming or frustrating. He strives to create a relaxed and supportive group atmosphere while encouraging his students to gradually grow comfortable with increasingly challenging material. I am dedicated to provide competent, caring instruction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a professional musician, a Berklee College of Music graduate, with 25+ years experience teaching students of all ages, in conservatories, public schools and private settings. 30+ years experience performing in various live bands across many genres.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
The love of music and the love of teaching comes natural to me. There is a saying "If you love music, think and dream about it, then this is what you got to do".
