Online Guitar Lessons with Derrick

I offer acoustic and electric guitar lessons for beginning and intermediate students of all ages. I teach a variety of musical styles, including rock and alternative, modern country, blues, folk, and classical. I teach in person lessons in the Philadelphia area and also teach online lessons via Zoom. I am teaching 30 students per week from all over the country, and I am available to teach students in the Pacific and Mountain time zones up until 10pm Pacific time. What you'll get in taking lessons with me: 1) Personalized lessons using songs you want to learn along with songs I think would be good for you to learn, based on your ability. 2) Patience and encouragement - mistakes are part of the learning process and will be addressed in a supportive manner 3) Fun, but also disciplined. Scales are part of the learning process early on, and students are expected to make steady progress. I have a specific method for teaching beginners that has been proven very effective in developing the muscle memory to master chords and use them in popular songs. Students are free to bring in songs that they want to learn, and I have a large library of songs that I also incorporate into their lessons. I really enjoy teaching students the basics and helping them develop into better guitarists.
