FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly staying on top of the latest technological advancements in music, especially in the studio. I have a successful home studio where I record my students, and it is crucial that my computer and its software are always running the best programs. That's why I am very fluent with Apple computers, composition software such as Finale and Sibelius, audio recording software such as Logic Pro and video editing software such as Final Cut Pro. I also keep up to date with the latest in contemporary music, so that I can relate to the styles that my students are referencing, as well as be aware of any innovations or changes that are happening in the field that I have to be aware of.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My customers are musicians of all ages, spanning numerous musical styles and technical ability.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would say that hiring a professional based solely on hourly rates is not a practical solution in your search for an instructor. You are seeking instruction based on an art form that takes years of refinement and practical application, and many music instructors are only that: instructors, without extensive experience at performing, composing, arranging, touring, etc.. Professional musicians who teach, however, are bringing a practical side to concepts taught, due to the daily use of the material, and the flexibility to know how to conform subjects and concepts to the situations they are in. Though traditionally more costly, professional musicians, such as myself, will always be able to contribute more to weekly lessons and create personal and unique situations for each student, instead of following a predetermined formula or curriculum that may not work from student to student.
