Introduction

Our approach is never the same with two clients. Contagious Events began its course in the wedding world by specializing in gay weddings. There wasn't a template to follow - even some of the traditional wedding elements had to be rethought - things like throwing the bouquet, walking down the aisle, members and roles of the wedding party all had to be rethought. Eventually we started answering calls from clients who said they loved our work and what we stood for, but they weren't quite sure we'd work with them because they were straight. Our response was "of course we will!" So today, Contagious Events plans real weddings for real people. Our planning style is still the same though - we have honest conversations with our couples about what they want their day to look like. We obsess over getting to know our clients (where have you traveled to, what do you both do in your free time, last movie you saw together, first date) so we can make sure we craft a day that tells the story of the two of you. We love helping couples have fun during the planning process. Sharing laughs, pointing out some of the "crazies" in the wedding world and helping our clients do things they thought wouldn't be possible, whether it be due to budget or other restrictions.

To the Contagious team - Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there every step of the way (literally every step). I dont even want to think about how things would have turned out without your guidance. There are no words that adequately describe the how delighted my husband and I are with the enchanting evening the Contagious team put together for our wedding. The day I contacted Contagious Events, they responded with creative and budget friendly ideas. Contagious worked within our budget and presented us with countless concepts for Save the Dates, invitations, escort card seating, ceremony and wedding reception signage, door hangers for our out of town guests and probably more that we cant even think of right now! Contagious went above and beyond the call of duty they didnt just simply make all of these paper products for us they helped execute our wedding by providing expert advice on how to deal with different kinds of vendors, situations, and helped worked through unforeseen bumps in the road that surfaced as planning our wedding from hundred of miles away, bumps can happen! Contagious was always responsive with solutions that not just worked but worked well which was priceless for us. To top off our wedding Contagious designed an elaborate candy buffet which complimented our wedding scheme and as a surprise they made custom candy wrappers which our guests are still raving about! Our guests have told us that our wedding wasnt just another party it was a complete experience to be at our wedding and we know the credit goes to every detail from Contagious. Going forward we will be going to Contagious Events for every social event we host. Having Joe as our day-of coordinator was probably the best decision we made and most well-spent money from our budget. You cannot put a price on your sanity when it comes to being able to enjoy your wedding without worrying about a single detail. I honestly felt like I was a guest at my own wedding, rather than running it from behind the scenes. I was surprised that Joe was able to pick up seamlessly from where I had left off planning, which afforded me the opportunity to relax and enjoy the day- rather than worry about whether we were on schedule, if the vendors were on time, etc. The extra set of hands was so so helpful not only day-of, but in advance as well! It was awesome knowing Joe was there to help with whatever came up along the way.

Joe and the Contagious Events team was the best money I spent on my wedding. I was one of those brides who didn’t think she needed a coordinator. We had an especially complicated wedding -- at a summer camp, with people spending the whole weekend camping, at an entirely DIY site. Starting months before, Joe gave me names of trustworthy vendors, walked me through every detail and offered to pick up tasks big and small. He made signs, seating charts, and even got us a beautifully decorated wooden shelf to display our guests’ labeled drinking glasses. The dining hall was put together perfectly and I didn’t have to worry about a thing all weekend long. The whole team worked tirelessly the day of to make sure everything went off without a hitch, and Joe handled every little crisis that arose all while deftly managing our sometimes impatient families. I cannot recommend Joe and his team highly enough!

Contagious helped us turn a very beautiful but very raw venue, Pier 4 in Charlestown's Navy Yard, into a spectacular Party on the Pier! From start to finish, we and our guests (~150) had an incredibly fun evening. Joe and his team made sure everything went off without a hitch. 5 stars!

We run on no-shock billing. All of our services are offered at a per project rate, so the price on the agreement is the price you pay.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We attend local networking events for wedding professionals and stay in touch with photographers to discuss trends and challenges in the industry. We actively participate in LinkedIn boards with other wedding professionals, and we're graduates of the Gay Wedding Institute.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
It actually just fell in my lap. It all started as an intern for a politician who was running for governor. At the time I thought my future was in politics and campaign management. The candidate I was working for offered his insight and commented how I excelled at planning events, so I decided to explore that option more, and here I am!
