Introduction

The way in which I approach guitar instruction emphasizes mastery (of technique and interpretation), building confidence, exploring the diversity of music that exists for the instrument and helping students enjoy practicing and performing. I truly feel that learning an instrument can be transformational and can help th student with all other aspects of their lives. I enjoy interacting with my students and helping them cultivate their personal voice on the instrument.

Simply stated, Adam Levin is my esteemed teacher who has made the challenge of learning how to play classical guitar not only exciting but a pleasure from day one! Adam is a world class virtuoso guitarist whose enthusiasm, patience, and teaching talent enables him to transfer his knowledge of technique and interpretation to a student without being overbearing or overwhelming. Adam is the most talented musician I have ever worked with. What is more impressive, despite his high level of performance, he has no trouble teaching the basics and explaining complex music in an easy to understand way. He focuses on technique above all else. Most importantly, he is incredibly fun to work with. We spend many of our lessons laughing, even while I struggle through difficult parts.

It’s tough to describe Professor Levin’s teaching using stars and keywords. He’s a talented and worldly performer that has vast international experience, extreme ambition and dedication, yet incredibly personalized care tailored to help each student grow to their fullest potential. Having studied only a few short years with Professor Levin, I feel like my knowledge has expanded considerably, as has my perspective of the world of music; built into my curriculum was a flurry of opportunities to meet and study with the greatest classical guitarists in the business, many through the Kithara Project and the URI Guitar Festival that Professor Levin heads up. I highly recommend studying with Mr. Adam Levin if you are at all serious about the music you play.

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge students based on their choice of 30 minute, 45 minute or hour long lessons. If students pays for a 10 lesson package, they will get 10% off.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a faculty member at UMass Boston and University of Rhode Island, so I am immersed in academia and the latest techniques in teaching. I was trained at Northwestern University outside of Chicago (BA and BM) and then continued my MM studies at New England Conservatory in Boston, MA.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
My father handed me a guitar one day when I was seven years old and the rest is history. I thought I would become a doctor in college, but then couldn’t imagine a life without guitar in my life.
