Introduction
I have more than 15 years of experience as a wedding officiant. I have officiated at a variety of weddings, from lavish, formal affairs with 200 guests to small, intimate gatherings in a French quarter courtyard. I've officiated an "April Fool’s Day" wedding where all of the guests donned flamboyant costumes as well as a solemn ceremony conducted at the foot of a hospital bed. The ceremony can be custom tailored to your specifications. I have experience with a variety of cultural and religious customs. My father, Judge Steve J. Mortillaro, was the justice of the peace in Metairie for 25 years, and I learned at his knee. I received "Best of 2015" and "Best of 2016" awards from Thumbtack based on customer feedback for my wedding officiant services, and was named as a "Top Pro" in 2017. I enjoy working with the couples, getting to know their "story" and customizing the ceremony to their desires. Please note that additional fees may apply in some cases, based on the event location or additional services needed. A final quote will be given after all of the details of the event are known. It is my honor and pleasure to be a part of your special day. Thank you for your consideration!

I can't thank Rosalie enough for her responsiveness, professionalism, guidance and advice leading up to our wedding day. Being from Toronto, we've never had to face the threat of a hurricane so needless to say, we were very worried when were heard the news of Hurricane Nate potentially hitting New Orleans while we're there. But Rosalie spoke to us on the phone at length a few hours before we flew out and answered all our questions. She alleviated most of our worries and even provided links to local news sources that provided more accurate accounts of what was happening on the ground. We are forever grateful to you, Rosalie! Our wedding day was perfect. And to think, we almost cancelled our trip!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

The base price is $160 and includes an introductory phone call, customizing your script, two revisions, officiating the ceremony, and processing the marriage license paperwork. Extra fees apply as follows: • $40 Premium fee for weddings at 7:00 p.m. or later. • $25 Premium fee for French Quarter/CBD, and areas outside of Jefferson or Orleans parishes. • $75 to attend rehearsal (plus premium fee if in French Quarter, CBD, or outside Jefferson or Orleans parishes. • Extra fees will apply in the French Quarter during Carnival season or during special events. Please contact me so we can discuss what is needed, and then I will provide a final quote.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to have a 20-30 minute phone call with the couple to find out what they are envisioning for their ceremony. Then I customize their script based on their requests, and submit to them a few days later for review. I will email an invoice to pay online with a credit card, and payment is due 2 weeks before the ceremony. After the ceremony, I process the paperwork and return it to the marriage license office.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My father, Judge Steve J. Mortillaro, was the Justice of the Peace in Metairie for 25 years, and I learned at his knee.
