I am an education professional with 14 years of experience as a gifted specialist focused on college advising and teaching AP US History. I use a highly personalized, holistic yet data driven approach to help students worldwide gain admission to their best fit college, a place where they will be happy and successful. I provide educational planning, ACT/ SAT and AP tutoring, and college advising for families nationwide. Students I worked with have been accepted to most selective schools including Stanford, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Rice, Notre Dame, Tufts, Williams, Vanderbilt, Barnard, Smith, Wellesley, the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, I have extensive experience with public university honors colleges, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, NCAA recruiting, ROTC auditions and portfolio reviews. I work closely with families to find the best fit – academically for the student and financially for the entire family. I charge a session fee for all formal zoom or in person meetings and a general monthly fee covering all other contact and general editing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I holds BA in Political Science and History from Barnard College, Columbia University and a MA in History with a minor in Gifted Education from Louisiana State University. I holds a certificate in College Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. In 2011, I was named Louisiana’s James Madison Memorial Foundation Fellows, which fully funded my graduate education. I was was awarded the Louisiana DAR History Teacher of the Year in 2016 and named a “Person to Watch” in 2006 by 225 Magazine. I have served as an AP US History Exam Reader for six years. Prior to entering education, I worked as a political communications consultant for 15 years, advising local, state and national leaders nationwide and advocating for education issues. I began my communications career working at NY1 News.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Seven years ago, I developed a unique college and career course that uses a multi-faceted approach to help students discern their post-secondary path while gaining valuable tools for social-emotional growth at this critical juncture. In 2017, after my daughter was admitted to Dartmouth, the University of Pennsylvania, Barnard, Georgetown, Williams, Wesleyan, Wellesley, Boston College, Sewanee: University of the South, and Louisiana State University, friends started calling me for help and through word of mouth, I began working with families nationwide.
