- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
PROOFREADING / EDITING / REVISING: $40 per hour — ~ Basic proofreading/editing: 1500 words/hr ~ Heavy editing: 750 words/hr ~ Substantive editing & revisions/rewrites: 400 words/hr __________________________________________ CREATING / WRITING COPY: $65 / 200 words— __________________________________________ TRANSLATION: To and From Spanish: $15 per 150 words __________________________________________
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to chat and make sure I understand what the customer needs. I rely on communication. I also like to stay in touch with my customer after the bulk of the editing work is done. I'm always happy to give the project a final pass or another read.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in English Philology and a Masters and Doctorate In English from the University of Kansas. I taught English Composition and Criticism, as well as American and English Literatures at KU for thirteen years. I have extensive experience in editing and proofreading fiction and non-fiction—including several children’s and YA books—as well as revising scholarly papers, class notes and course content. I also translate to and from Spanish (legal documents, fiction manuscripts and academic works) and have worked on transcription for years.
