- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate isn’t low for the area, but you get what you pay for! I am efficient and don’t waste your time, and if you come prepared you’ll be surprised at the affordability.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start with a good line of communication about the nature of the project - what it’s about, goals for it, timetable, etc. I like to really nail in what the desired “sound” is obtain whatever reference material the client can give me. I also seek to ascertain the scope of the project - to have an open-ended or indeterminate arrangement is unprofessional and a recipe for complications, so I like to establish clear parameters for each phase of the working relationship. Both parties will sign a client engagement agreement so that there is no confusion about what is expected of me and when it is expected by.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went through the program at the Institute of Audio Engineering Arts, have been mentored in music and engineering my whole life by my father Bill Crain (founder of BRC), am a highly trained and experienced professional musician, and have worked on dozens of projects.
