Introduction

Hello my name is Barbara. I am a life-long professional musician from California. I worked the last 20 years in Los Angeles and San Francisco. I am waiting out the pandemic here in Indianapolis Indiana with my family. I am now performing as a “Live Tracks with Singer” show that I can do SOLO or with a small band. I sing in all styles of American music and many types of Latin X Music, (Pop and Rock in Español, as well as Salsa, Cumbia, etc.) I also sing in French, Italian, Portuguese and 4 other languages. I am currently available for Private Parties and Pubic Gigs. I have a face shield on a music stand and can make a perimeter with cones for COVID-19 concerns, if needed. I enjoy everything about what I do, but mostly working for great people in beautiful places.

I hired Orkestra International for my engagement party in Concord, Ca. My step-dad is Mexican American and we have a lot of parties and dancing. My fiancé (who's also Mexican American) and I decided to have our engagement party with salsa dancing along with other dance music for our friends and family that would be attending. We wanted someone affordable and knew a vast array of different genres in English and Spanish. With only a couple weeks to plan, I went searching online and found Orkestra International. I was surprised with their setup. A DJ band that didn't have instruments but back tracks. They also did Spanish songs as well as other dance music. I was a little skeptical, but called them up and spoke to their band leader, Barbara Ochoa. She was really informative. I explained to her that I was having a small(ish) party in my backyard for an engagement party on October 14th. I also explained what kind of set list we wanted as well. She was really understanding and said her band was available that day (thank goodness). We talked about the price and she was really reasonable. Her price was less than some DJs I had looked at before finding her. Anyways, fast forward to the 14th. Her band arrived early to set up. By band, I mean the trio. They had a back track dj board thing, mics and speakers. Again, I was a little skeptical, at least I was, until they started. THEY WERE GREAT! They knew A LOT of different Latin style songs that kept my family and friends dancing and happy on my step-dad's and fiancé's (mine too) side, and for us on my family's (and friends) side knew a bunch of classic American standards that got them moving too. I forgot that they didn't have a real band behind them. Thank you for making my engagement such a wonderful memory! I'll probably be hiring them again for my wedding reception.

He thank you for the review. I just joined thumbtack so any help is appreciated. My father was born in Mexico so I felt very connected with your group. What a blast!! AND, it was fun to speak Spanish again even if mine is a little rusty these days. Thank you also for taking a chance on a track band (singer, keys, sax & tracks.) It is a different concept. As you may have noticed, your sister wanted “sing alongs” like “Piano Man” that we did play live. We do strive to play as many songs as possible live but when the dancing comes in especially with specialized styles like Salsa that would require a 10 piece band to pull off properly, we do use the recorded tracks for support. All that matters is that you guys got a great deal, danced all night and the reception party was a huge success. I would love to do it again sometime. Call me any time.

I was recently married on June 17, 2017 in L.A. California! Upon planning for the wedding I was slightly worried about finding the proper music to accommodate my husband's family. They are from France and I wanted them to be able to recognize and connect to the ceremony through the music. On the other hand, my family is Jewish. After doing some research I stumbled across Barbara Ochoa and her band OrKestra International. She sings in several different languages, was so personal and accommodating over the phone I thought I have to listen to her sing and prayed that I would love it. Lucky for me and my fiance, we did just that. We fell in love with her voice and knew instantly we had to book them. She explained how she could do a French song at the ceremory, a trio of European favorites for dinner and an American party band with horns that included the Hora for the dancing portion. On the wedding day Barbara and her band were beyond prepared. She told me “I have all the music covered, don’t worry” at first I though it’s my wedding so I’m going to worry but everything went so smooth all night. Funny everyone was singing along when they did "Volare." So many of the guests that came up to us had the same thing to say: they danced and had a blast. I think she must have handed out about 20 of her cards that night. Thank you Barbara for such a genuine experience that none of us from that night will ever forget.

Hey Patricia! My singing partner and I had a great and trip to Los Angeles and a great gig with your group. I think understand the 4 stars. Your grandfather was unhappy that I could not perform the specific Hebrew song he requested the day before the reception. As I tried to explain when we first met and it is clearly stated on our OKI website, songs that are not in English need a minimum of 2 weeks to prepare. I wouldn’t want any song to not be perfect. I did play it on the IPod, I hoped that was ok. Nevertheless, the French songs went over well. As I always say, you can’t go wrong with French tunes! I threw my Dad a birthday party this past September in Napa and I hired Barb and her band because my Dad wanted live music and singing. I'm glad I hired them because she has an incredible voice, a lot of charisma, an amazing band, and basically had everyone's attention. My Dad said he felt like he was in a nice upscale club with her performing and was mesmerized by her and her voice. She's really versatile as she can sing any English genre and style and also in any language too! My Dad is from Brazil, so he was completely impressed with her spot on rendition of "Mas Que Nada" and even sang along with her on stage. Dad said it was one of the best birthdays he had and is already trying to get OrKestra International to perform for his office's holiday party coming up.

Couldn’t have been happier with Orkestra International. They were very responsive and on point about being in touch with us the whole time leading up to the wedding. And during the wedding they played very well. We had them start off with some jazzy music while we were eating and mingling and then stepped it up to some Latin and pop dance music. Barbara is a great singer and complimented many different styles of songs. Would definitely recommend them for anyone! Thanks guys!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We can come as a duo or with a larger International band or we can come as a Standard American party band and add International songs. The price depends on how many musicians you want and how long you want us to play. That why it is hard to put a price on it before we connect.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask a lot of questions to find out exactly what you may need. We know enough songs to customize any type of show you may need for your event.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA with Honors from Columbia in Chicago and I only work with world class musicians. I have been doing events for over 25 years and can handle any situation we are placed in.
