FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing $70/hour for events in Champaign/Urbana. Outside of that region, I charge $15 per 15 minutes of travel time. Example: A two hour face painting event in Bloomington, IL will cost $200 total. ($140 for face painting plus $60 total travel fee)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask them what type of event and how large it will be. I ask how many hours they will need my services for. If not immediately evident, I ask if the event will be indoors or outdoors, so I can prepare for things like wind, access to water for my paints, and whether or not I will need to bring my own tent. I ask if there is anything special I should know about the guests, location, or parking at the event. At that point I will ask for a contact phone number and ensure we are clear on the final price. I ask if they would like an invoice or any other documentation. If there are no further questions, I'll conclude the call with thanking them for their business and "I'll see you on the 5th!" or similar. :)
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was inspired to pursue face painting when a friend asked me to try it as a volunteer at an event she was hosting. I had never done something like that before, and was so suprised when a mother approached me about working for a children's 5k at the YMCA. She asked how much I charged, and I had to confess that this was my first time face painting. It was very encouraging! I continued to work at events and practice on my friend's children, and found it to be very enjoyable.
