FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on the strength of the play, whether lessons are individual or group, and the amount of work outside of the actual lesson time that the instructor needs to put in. Sample pricing is outlined on our website on the page about "Lessons"
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically we provide one free lesson. This provides us an opportunity to evaluate the student (and the student to evaluate us) - look for fit, and whether we believe we can work together. During that lesson we will look for key early topics to discuss - and then take things from there.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have credentials from FIDE (the International Chess Federation) as a "FIDE Trainer" (their second highest coaching category) and from the U.S. Chess Federation as a "Professional Chess Coach" - their highest category. Among other things, these categories recognize that I have coached multiple teams and players to state and national championships. I have about 40 years of coaching experience.
