Denise is AMAZING. I have never picked up the piano before and she was able to quickly assess who I am and where I want to be and the best path to get me there. She is incredibly patient, encouraging, and perceptive to how I’m playing, how to best improve; and how I can practice to optimize our sessions (if I have the time) in between lessons. She has been very understanding and supportive of my very demanding work schedule when conflicts arise and make up times have to be scheduled. I would recommend Denise to anyone at any age or skill level, and it’s just been a really fun learning experience overall. She’s the best!

I planned to have a few trial voice lessons with a few different teachers and then decide who to work with after that. However, once I met and worked with Denise, I saw no point in looking any further. She is exactly what I’m looking for to work on my voice at this stage of my life. Denise is a GREAT teacher. I was a very novice singer before meeting with her and I can feel myself getting better every week. She is very kind and friendly and makes you feel comfortable during each lesson, and is obviously very knowledgeable about her craft. I would not hesitate to recommend her to any other student looking to learn how to sing!!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We have an initial meeting where we discuss goals and also do a vocal assessment using some simple warm ups and exercises! We then plan a strategy and set up our next block of lessons!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was trained at McNally Smith College of Music in St Paul MN. Vocal Performance Major. I’ve been in different music jobs (paid/volunteer) all my life! From theater to cover bands to church musician! For the past 10 years I have worked with people from various genres, punk rock to opera and everything in between!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started doing this work because I find great joy in helping people discover their own unique gifts! I love performing and have met many people that way and just love helping others prepare for their performances be that in theater, rock bands, school ensembles or for their church!
