Hey there! I'm a jazz and contemporary vocalist here in Chicago, with 10+ years of experience as a performer, bandleader, and arranger. I'm available for all kinds of events, but I especially love playing for cocktail hours, smaller/DIY wedding receptions, wedding ceremonies, and marriage proposals. I really enjoy working with clients to find songs and artists they love to make their event unique and extra special! I have a master's degree in jazz and know 200+ jazz standards, but I also love playing 60's pop and motown, folk and country, and classic pop tunes. I've played public and private events around Chicago at venues like The Allis at Soho House, The Drake, Palmer House, Union League Club, The Field Museum, Chicago Botanic Garden, Gibsons, Chicago Firehouse, and more. My pricing varies depending on the season, day of the week, travel distance, instrumentation/number of musicians etc., but please contact me for more info on pricing. I can offer up to a quintet (voice, guitar or piano, bass, drums, sax or trumpet), but I most commonly perform in a duo or trio setting (voice with guitar and/or upright bass). Everyone enjoyed the music of Kathryn Lachey so very much. She played for my 60th birthday party celebration. I was beyond delighted at the talent of her singing and playing piano. She sang in French and Portuguese what a special treat. Her playlist is extremely extensive and she goes over the top to deliver an exceptional experience. It was pure joy to have her sing at my party. Her guitar player was fantastic and together they performed endless jazz favorites and then a great selection of dance music. Kathryn was perfect for my golden birthday! She played 2 hours of recognizable music that fit the vibe of the party! She even let me request a few songs to learn which really added to the experience, even one last minute (which I really appreciated). Would highly recommend having Kathryn at your next event!

Kathryn is absolutely PHENOMENAL! She and her guitarist were able to build a cover of a specific song that I had requested and it turned out even better than I could have imagined. I was traveling to the Chicago area for and was planning a surprise proposal at Buckingham Fountain. As I live >5hrs away I actually was not able to meet up with Kathryn or her guitarist even once before the event. We spoke a great deal over text and email about what I wanted from the event/the song, and she always responded very promptly and was very attentive to my needs/desires, she even provided suggestions for ideas that I had not yet thought of which I loved. When the day came, I had also found a local photographer via thumbtack and Kathryn was even kind enough to coordinate directly with the photographer to make sure everything was in place and every detail was perfect (AND THEY HAD NEVER MET BEFORE EITHER!!!). My now Fiancee thought there were just having fun playing music by the fountain and had no idea they were there for us. Kathryn and I had set up a little signal for when I was ready for them to start playing my requested song, and it all went off without a hitch! The proposal went off without a hitch, and we COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. Kathryns attention to customer needs is amazing, her professionalism cannot be beat, and her musical talent is world class. 5 Stars is not enough. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

Kathryn and her band were wonderful to work with! We had a small wedding (30 guests) and their music really brought it to life and gave it a really special celebratory feel even with our small group. Part of the band played during the ceremony and cocktail hour and the music was very elegant. They were all extremely talented. For the dancing portion they had a great amount of energy and learned a lot of the songs that we sent along as references in addition to special songs like our first dance. They even took an impromptu request for a kids song and nailed it :) Kathryn was also really fantastic about going with the flow of the event and being flexible and communicative as an MC. Highly recommend!

What types of customers have you worked with?
I perform frequently as part of a duo/trio/quartet/quintet (the size of the group is dependent on the size of the venue and the client's specific needs) at clubs, restaurants, wineries, weddings, and private events. I have a large book of jazz standards, but I also perform in the indie/folk/country and pop genres. I teach voice and piano lessons to all ages & skill levels, but I prefer to teach older (high school and above) students. I also have skills in music transcription and arranging and am available for this type of work, as well.
