Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

Unfortunately we did not have the best experience with this person. We purchased permanent house lights for the exterior of our home. They come with full instructions, pictures, and the option to hang them with adhesives or screw-in brackets. I described to him what we wanted over the phone, but I wasn't sure if he was understanding me. He came the first day and put the lights in the wrong location. It was below freezing that day, so I asked him if he would like to come back on a warmer day to fix it. The second day he came by, he was using the adhesives instead of the brackets we requested. He said it was easier, and we explained that wanted these lights to last for years, so we want them hung with the brackets. It definitely is a time-consuming job, which is why we were looking to hire someone. The wiring was also very loose, so it looked terrible. After going out to check and ask him to fix it a few times, he still wasn't doing what we asked. He kept trying to cut corners. We told him that we no longer wished to use his services. He asked us for $200 for his time. We paid him to avoid any issues. My husband borrowed a ladder from the neighbor and is doing the lights himself for the past two days. The only reason I gave him two stars instead of one is because he was polite.

Details: Installation only • Roof • No, I will provide the lights myself • 1,000 - 2,000 sq ft • Residential
