FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I can work hourly for $40 per hour, or I can come get you a quote. Some smaller projects I am able to quote from pictures, but most of the time I will need to schedule a time to come look at the job. For appliance repair, I charge a trip-fee/service-call-fee because roughly half my time ends up being driving time. Depending on where you live, the trip fee is usually between $30 to $70. Most appliance repair jobs end up costing between $50 and $250 total (trip fees + parts + labor).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It depends on the type of customer. Appliance repair: I need the a description of the issue and then I let you know when I can come. I usually diagnose the issue on the first trip and then order a part and then come back and fix it on the second trip but sometimes I can fix it on the first trip. Landlords who need a Handyman: I can usualy just go do whatever you need done and then I'll report back and you can pay me via Zelle. I do like to be able to coordinate directly with the tenant on when to show up. Home owners with remodeling projects: I can get you a quote or I can charge time and materials depending on your preference.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I worked as the main employee of a small handyman business for about 2 years and then I spent about a year helping a friend build his house while I did small projects on the side for friends and family. After that, I started working on my own and got licensed and got on thumbtack and that's where I am now.
