My service has been taking photos and creating memories for families for over 20 years. My photos create an emotional story that reveals your day. Capturing family memories is a priority. With a relaxed and fun style I am committed to providing an exceptional photographic experience. I provide clean backgrounds, free of distracting objects. My photos have been said to look alive and are creative. After taking college classes in photography, I trained at a portrait studio and was hired immediately as the manager of the studio. My personality is fun loving so that you enjoy the photo session and can smile with ease. Photography is not a job to me but an opportunity to help you achieve your vision for photography on you special day. I capture photos of weddings, senior high portraits, business portraits, and real-estate properties.My style is mainly photojournalism, with a contemporary, creative style. The traditional and portraiture style is also included. All images are placed unto a flash drive or put into Goggle Drive. I use a polarizer outdoors to diminish the sun glare and to make the colors pop. A professional lab provides your reprints, modern stand-out prints, canvas and metal prints, and/or photo albums. During our consultation I ask questions to learn what you desire in the photos. It pleases me to know that I am achieving your vision. I love to create unique photos of the various items purchased for a wedding or take you photo with a personal item that reflects your personality. Joan is so easy to work with. As Seniors (like in AARP) trying to put together a wedding at the last minute a professional was needed for our photography. She is so accommodating and has good ideas. I am looking forward to the wedding and know that I am in good hands with her. UPDATE: We were so pleased with her work! Joan easily moved around to get the shots. She automatically knew what to shoot and it was a blessing to have her with us on our wedding day. This professional was responsive and followed up. She helped make it successful; I would hire her again.

She was very kind, however, as a business owner myself something didn't sit well with me. Had to pay to pick up photos after I paid for shipping in my total amount A few of my photos were damaged( she did email new ones however I have no way to add them to the slide with other photos. No hard copy of pictures( I should have inquired about this in the beginning.

Danielle, You are correct that I had charged you $5.00 for the mailing I realized AFTER I took time to relook at the contract. I wanted to quickly send the product before I left town and for once I did not take it to be weighed at the post office. I used a previous weight charge instead which caused you to pay another $3.00 and take time from your busy schedule to pick them up. I am sorry! Charging for mailing is new for me and I totally had forgotten that I had. For the 3 images that had a line in them and I resent, I would think you could download them to your computer and then import them into the flash drive or file. IF NOT I am coming into IowaCity on Friday afternoon (430-530 pm) and could bring you a new flash drive with all the images. We could exchange them. We really had very little discussion about this job before the event. Most of my clients do not want the reprints so I no longer bring it up unless they do. I did offer to provide reprints from a professional lab, at reasonable prices for you. I will mail them (one order) to you at MY cost. Thank you for your original 5 star review. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My business provides 5 packages. I offer the basic packages then make changes to meet the needs of my couples. Prices run from a full day with a flash drive/ DVD of 600-700 edited images, to the small Mini Package of 3 hours for $550. Photo Albums are options to all packages. My popular package is $1150, which includes 6 hrs of coverage and a flash drive of 500-600 edited images. I provide canvas and metal prints, stand out prints, and coffee table photo books. All images are captured with high resolutions. Photo prints are provided from a professional lab and added at a very reasonable price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I desire to know them personally so that I can capture their personalities in the photos. I listen to them. We talk about them and what is important to them.For weddings, we discuss what they need but I offer suggestions that I know from experience that works. I ask them what they want for services and create a package around their needs and budget.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took several photography classes. The professor asked me to join him in his small business as the stills photographer while he did the videography. I also trained at a Portrait Studio. They quickly hired me as the manager due to my creative talent and portfolio. I have many years of experience that is needed with the trials of a wedding.
