FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My base rate is $55.00 per hour, for most small business bookkeeping tasks for WA based clients. IA based clients are offered a lower hourly rate. Once the scope of work has been established and a routine is set up, we can switch to a fixed monthly amount to make budgeting easier. For clean-up/catch up projects, the hourly rate is discounted based off of how many hours were worked each month; the more billable hours were accrued, the lower the hourly discount, up to $10/hr off. For personal financial bookkeeping, my base rate is also $55.00 per hour or WA clients. Again, depending on the scope of work, we can continue on a hourly basis, or work in a fixed rate basis. I like to keep things simple for me and the customer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I require an in-person or video consult with all prospective clients, regardless of how the work is later performed. The first two hours are complimentary. We'll discuss your needs, questions and problems in more detail, as well as work out a "plan of attack". At the conclusion of this meeting, I'll present a letter of engagement for you to review and sign. This spells out what I'll be doing for you based off of our conversations. I will not begin work or ask for the needed information until this engagement letter is signed by you. Depending on your accounting system setup, we will then meet at a later time to install remote work-friendly software and share any log ins and passwords.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I possess a bachelor's of accounting degree from WGU. To accelerate my career change to being an accountant, (I was formerly in admin and & customer service), I also became certified in bookkeeping and using QuickBooks through Universal Accounting while I was also completing my Bachelor's degree. On top of all this, the needs and demands of my clients encourage me to be consistently researching and staying up to date on a variety of subjects related to small business management. Dor.wa.gov has been my friend when it comes to state taxes. :) My professional goal is to obtain a Master's in Accounting and also obtain a nationally recognized license from NACPB as either a Licensed Bookkeeper or as an Accounting Paraprofessional, which includes a background in federal taxes.
