FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For four, two hour classes, they will receive basic machine and basic sewing, whereas some places charge these lessons separately. Right through for children 9-16, I have slash prices to 80.00.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Determining if they are beginners, which they have been. If they have any experience they usually want to start as a beginner anyway. First, basic machine lessons, threading a machine, getting comfortable with the machine, by sewing straight stitches, then a 5/8 seam, reverse stitch. After children will make a neck pillow, adults, an Infinity Scarf, where I provide the fabric, both projects require only straight stitching. Body measurements are taken, I explain how to read a pattern, Next lesson, read a pattern again, cut a pattern, pin it on the fabric, cut, and sew a pair of pajamas. Techniques taught, a casing for the elastic, inserting the elastic, the crouch of the pajamas, and a machine hem. They have to provide their own fabric, but I have the pattern.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in what used to be known as Home Economics Education, and I am a retired teacher.
