Introduction
🦋I am a neurodivergent, queer, Afro-Indigenous seamstress|stylist|sewing teacher|project manager from Abq, NM doin’ some thangs in and around Atlanta. I value working with empathy towards a client’s goals and a dedication to intentional quality. I have been teaching sewing and fiber arts for over 10 years, consulting and fabricating local fashion designers’ collections and generally poking my head out of my quiet lifestyle to lend a hand for artistic projects when asked! I am heavily focused on sustainable practices in the fashion industry, fighting for workers rights from fiber to runway, and reviving sewing as an essential skill. All-in-all I am a wearer of many fashion related hats and a master of lists✨ I have studied fibers and sewing most of my life, worked with wonderful mentors in Atlanta, and constantly pushing myself to learn new skills. My services range from sewing lessons and workshops, alterations and mending, bespoke garments, sample making, small batch production, costume and wardrobe management and small business consulting. Please visit my website for more information on my services and to book a free consultation to chat over your goals! ✨

She altered a tapestry for me and did a wonderful job. The tapestry had multiple tears in it, some i didn’t even realize were there, and she fixed all of them to the point where it was totally unnoticeable that it had been torn. Wonderful quality work and finished faster than I was expecting. Thank you Sami ✨

Sami was my sewing teacher in middle school. She is extremely dedicated and skilled in her craft, and is kind and very down to earth. She’s great at giving advice and still letting you explore on your own. She’s also very creative.

Sami is creative, personable, and listens well. She put together an outfit that I needed for a corporate event that still communicated my artistic personality, and tacked on a corporate flair with minimal accessories. She works quickly and is efficient, and decides well. I highly recommend Sami, hands-down.

Sami did such a great job teaching me how to sew as a beginner. She was always responsive and understanding of my questions and concerns. She taught me the important terms of sewing and the importance of doing the basics correctly. Her teaching was clear and we went at a pace that helped me learn. She was very helpful and understanding, and was very generous with her time and tools especially in the beginning when I didn’t have some items. She was also willing to meet in person which I really appreciated. I definitely recommend her and wish I can still take classes with her if I was still in Georgia.

FAQs

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

One of my favorite projects was for a client who wanted to create a small collection of mostly denim pieces, inspired by their favorite early 90’s film. This particular project was so fun because it had started off as me sewing some of the pieces for them and ended in me actually teaching and coaching them how to construct their pieces and make their vision doable. I really enjoyed getting to work alongside such a creative person and it really made me feel good knowing that by teaching them the skills they need to succeed in this collection could empower them to keep creating.
