FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Installing window treatments such as shutters and blinds would be a minimum flat fee covering a certain number of installs depending on the product. Installs above that minimum would have a flat rate per window covered. Example of typical pricing would be: $150 for 10 blinds ($15 Per blind) or 5 shutters ($30 per shutter, standard size). Additional installs would be $10 per blind and $20 per shutter. Installations for larger openings will have an additional charge based on the scope and size of the job. We appreciate each project will be bespoke to the customer and their situation - we strive to work accordingly to fit your needs and budget to ensure a quality installation is complete. Have a referral for a project? We love those - referrals will receive a discount as will repeat customers.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If you're contacting me through Thumbtack, I'm going to assume you already have window treatments on hand, and you need someone to install them. This is a great way to save money - in these scenarios we would schedule a time to do the install, and it should take less than a day depending on how big a job it is. If you need someone to measure for you, I can do that for an additional fee. If you're lucky, we can find some off the shelf treatments, and get the job done in a weekend. If the treatments need to be custom made, I would estimate 2 weeks for blinds, and 8 weeks for shutters. We have suppliers and contacts to support with this.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been involved in the manufacturing and installation of shutters for over 20 years. I've also been installing blinds and window treatments for the same duration. The swinging motion involved with shutters exposes the installer to the principles of square and plum as well as the finish techniques for hiding out of square framing. Hint: They're all out of square.
