FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices depend on the official Editorial Freelancer Association's rating guide. This guide shows the standard prices for certain editing services depending on word count and/or genre. I typically stick to the standard $0.02/ word for editing, and $0.04/word for multiple services requested (e.g. developmental AND copy edits).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask for a sample from the writer, typically 10 pages or less, and then we meet remotely to discuss the goals, questions, and services. Should the writer want to book with me, I require a 20% non-refundable deposit within a week of the initial booking. The original sample, however, is free, with no commitment from the client before our agreement.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Multicultural U.S. literature from Hollins university, an Associate's degree from Georgia State University, and a certification in editing from The Poynter Institute.
