FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is variable based on the student's needs as well as the length and frequency of lessons. I offer lessons of half an hour, 45 minutes and an hour; longer sessions are available by arrangement. I don't charge for the first meeting, and no one has to make a commitment to go further.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At the first meeting, we discuss your goals and motivations, and I listen to you sing. After that, we decide how often and how long to meet as well as pricing. It's a double interview - I interview the student and the student interviews me. Voice lessons work best when the student and teacher are relatively compatible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's in vocal performance and also in piano performance. I continue to read up on historical vocal methods such as vocal exercises by Panofka and Marchesi as well as Marafioti's book on Caruso's vocal technique and also engage with other voice teachers. My teachers all taught "bel canto" (beautiful singing), which is the foundation of everything vocal. The human voice hasn't changed, and technique doesn't either -- we just find new ways to talk about it that work for individual students.
